9/2 college & career opportunities 👩🏽💻💰📚
Welcome to Rawan’s Resources - a weekly curated newsletter of all things professional development.
Today’s Syllabus 📚: (1) What I’m pondering (2) Opportunities to apply to 👩🏽💻
(1) Anxiety or Reality? 💡
Sustained anxiety is usually due, in part, to false dichotomous, or “either/or” thinking. This is a cognitive distortion in which you eschew an entire field of possibilities in favor of one or two polarized outcomes. It’s assuming that if you lose your job, you’re a failure and will never find another; if your relationship ends, you'll never find love again; if something terrible happens, you won’t be able to go on. Your assumption about something tends to become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The most realistic answer is often the one that is least emotionally charged.”
